Woodford is the most magical event of the whole year for me. Thousands of people working to build a city of lights and colour and mystery, all set in beautiful natural bushland surrounded by national parks.
There are so many shows to see that it would almost be impossible for one person to see them all, but many have tried with great joy.
When you can eat from over 60 different food vendors, have a drink at the abundant, well staffed bars, and see over 1800 different acts in a week, there is literally something for everyone to do. Even the kids get their own little private, enclosed, professionally staffed mini festival if parents want to kick up their heels or sneak off to a cheeky, flamboyant cabaret show. ;)
Forget about the big name headline act posters from other festivals. They might be a good band, but they cost a fortune to promoters and then have to skimp on the rest of the experiences. Woodford is about exploring new experiences and finding bands and shows you have never heard about that are guaranteed amazing.
You will find hidden gems that become your favourite acts.
Honestly an amazing adventure probably deserves more than 5 stars but holy moly it was hot
The camping was good and friendly but inside this was a place where you can be relaxed and carefree safely strolling and allowing your kids to experience what a non judgmental happy community can be friendliness and acceptance allows my wife and I t have our children roam freely and experience more things than can be done in one short week
Do yourself a favour and bucket list this event
Remember book hourly swim slots often in what I think may be the biggest man made natural swimming pool
Not properly organised this year (23/24). It was super hot as well
We stayed at Woodfordia for the Easter holidays. Although there was no festival they did have great entertainment each evening, activities for kids throughout the day and of course the beautiful Lake Gkula to swim in. Great place to spend a few days made all the more special by the many volunteers.
Lake Gkula camping is just amazing. A lot of space for camping and kids to play.
absolutely amazing experience will come back again for sure
SE Qld , New Year, bucket list event. We went, we had a ball, we completely recommend Woodfordia.... but be aware. The festival is either hot and humid or hot and wet, you will need wellies or waterproof shoes, it does get very muddy. The overnight camping is chaotic, crowded and a bit of a mess, there are few vacant camp sits after the first couple of days. The entry procedure is a bit vague: purchase your ticket and vehicle pass before going, there is long queue for on-site purchasing. Everybody has to go through the Eastern Block Carpark Entry, even those heading over to the overnight camping areas. The shuttle bus is very busy, walking over is an option, but only just. Signage generally leans to wards quirky folk festival rather than overly clear. Having said all that we are already thinking about next year.
The giants were a favourite. Dispite muddy grounds, the family had fun. We did a craft activity in the children's festival, tried the paella, got henna body art and listened to live music.
